Hancock County burn ban
NEW CUMBERLAND — Hancock County commissioners issued an urgent burn ban countywide on Friday due to its current extreme drought status.
Effective immediately, this includes all outdoor burning activities, including the burning of brush, natural vegetation and the use of open fire pits, according to commission chair Eron Chek.
Individuals found to be violating this order are not only subject to immediately extinguishing of their burn but also possible fines.
Chek also encouraged individuals noticing violating of this order to contact local police and fire officials.
