The Barnyard Buddies celebrate another successful year

The Barnyard Buddies 4-H Club is celebrating another successful year. With 56 members and five advisors, there were many activities, accomplishments, and memories. Everyone worked hard throughout the year preparing their animals and projects for the Columbiana County Fair.

Some of the highlights include: First year member, Autumn Abruzzino, was a Project Fair County Winner and State Fair Rep for both her Basic Archery and Cavy projects. Levi Betz, another first-year member, took first place in market class with his turkey. Intermediate Pygmy Goat Showmanship was won by Claire Bloss. Griffin Deckerd took first prize in the Dairy Beef Feeder Junior Skillathon division. Overall Grand Champion Milking Shorthorn went to Nicole Deckerd, along with first place for her 3 Year Old Cow, Fall Yearling, and Spring Calf. Natalie Essick won Intermediate Skillathon for Dairy Beef Feeders and placed first in her market class. Her sister, Karlee Essick, earned Dairy Beef Feeder Reserve Outstanding Project, and also won Junior Showmanship. Kelly Ewing received first place with her Dry Cow, Winter Yearling, and won Overall Grand Champion Ayrshire. First place in the Intermediate Skillathon division for Market Steers was Aubreyanna Hawk. Bryce Hoopes placed first with his Spring Yearling Heifer. Overall Reserve Grand Champion Ayrshire was won by Austin Johnson, as well as first place Aged Cow and Summer Yearling. Austin Lindesmith placed first in his market class with his Dairy Beef Feeder and went on to win Reserve Grand Champion. Jaxson Raber received first place with his Market Steer in his weight class. Intermediate Hog Showmanship was won by Case Sanor. He placed first in his market class, and then earned the Reserve Outstanding Project for Hogs. Lily Sanor took home an array of awards including Grand Champion Carcass Lamb, Intermediate Lamb Skillathon winner, first place in her Market Hog class, Market Hog Division winner, and Reserve Grand Champion Hog. Hali Sanor was a winner of a Deerfield Ag scholarship this year. Chosen to be one of the fair princesses was Emme Sanor, and Jett Sanor was one of the princes. Landry Simon received first place in her market class with her Dairy Beef Feeder. The Barnyard Buddies school house themed fair booth also took first prize.

The officers that led the club this year were President Case Sanor, Vice President Bryce Hoopes, Secretary Lily Sanor, Treasurer Griffin Deckerd, Health & Safety Raelynn Wutrick, Recreation Leader Claire Bloss, and News Reporter Skylar Cunningham. The club is advised by Heather Sanor, Amber Sanor, Heath Halter, Lauren Halter and Melissa Wutrick.
