EL City Council Licesing Committee meeting

The East Liverpool City Council Licensing Committee will hold a special meeting on Aug. 4 at 5:45 p.m., in council chambers at East Liverpool City Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to consider a resolution for Council to consider to withdrawl its objection to the renewal of a liqour permit for Lena’s Lounge. The committee will discuss the issue and determine at the meeting to forward it on to council or not. A regular meeting of the East Liverpool City Council will be held immediately following the committee at 6 p.m.

First Baptist Wellsville block party

Lee Sheridan A.M.E. and First Baptist Wellsville will host a block party at 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 10.

There will be inflatables for the youth as well as music, games, foam party, food, and fellowship for everyone. The public is welcome to attend.

Chester Garden Club meeting

Members of the Chester Garden Club met on Wednesday, July 23, at the Chester City Building. President Jeanne Roberts called the meeting to order. Donna Stevens read “Hidden Treasures” and gave the blessing before the lunch dessert. Mary Ann Wright gave the treasurer’s report.

Roberts gave an update on the trip to Hippley Gardens saying that all had enjoyed the tour.

Susie Wilson told members that the stone for the Richmond Garden had been delivered and work on the improvement project should start by the end of the week. Roberts extended a thank you to members who pulled weeds and power washed the table, benches, and stepping stones in preparation for installing the ground stone.

After looking at the sample jigsaw puzzle that Wright had assembled, members voted to accept the “My Hometown, Chester, WV” puzzle as this year’s fundraiser. The puzzles will be available at Teapot Day on August 9 or by contacting any member of the club. The price for the “11 x 14” 252 piece puzzle is $20.

Members enjoyed Ki Trelaine’s homemade coffee cake, while she gave a presentation on the history of peas.

The next meeting meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 27, at the Chester City Building at 1 p.m. Anyone who would like to join the club is invited to attend.
