Road closures
The third and final closure for the state Route 39 major pavement rehabilitation project will begin June 2. State Route 39 will close near Highlandtown from Steubenville Pike to Clarks Mill Road for 60 days. The official detour is (from Highlandtown): state Route 39 east to state Route 7 north, state Route 7 north to state Route 45 north, state Route 45 north to state Route 518 west, state Route 518 west to state Route 164 south, state Route 164 south back to state Route 39, and reverse. This work is part of a project to rehabilitate nearly five miles of state Route 39, stretching from Salineville to Steubenville Pike Road in Highlandtown. Last year, work was completed on a section of State Route 39 from Salineville to Clarks Mill Road. During the closure, state Route 39 will close to all non-local traffic. Residents, businesses, and property owners will have access throughout the closure. All non-local traffic must detour.
From Wednesday to Friday, motorists should expect possible travel delays from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. near the interchange of U.S. Route 30, state Route 39, and state Route 7 due to ongoing construction for the 9th Street overhead bridge replacement project. During this time, traffic will be stopped intermittently along U.S. Route 30/state Route 39, including ramp closures to state Route 7, which will be necessary while the contractor places the new beams on the 9th Street bridge. Ramps impacted and detours: U.S. Route 30 eastbound to state Route 7 southbound: The detour is to continue east on U.S. 30 eastbound to Jackson Street, turn left onto Jackson Street to return to U.S. Route 30 westbound for state Route 7 southbound; U.S. 30 westbound to state Route 7 southbound: The detour is to continue west on U.S. Route 30 westbound to the state Route 170/Calcutta/E Palestine EXIT to state Route 170, state Route 170 to U.S. Route 30 east, U.S. Route 30 east back to state Route 7 south. The overall completion date for the project is Oct. 31.
