Life Line Screening in Calcutta
Residents living in and around Calcutta can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, and other chronic, serious conditions with affordable screenings by Life Line Screening. Peter Metrovich Community Center will host this community event June 7 at 15442 Pugh Road. Screenings can check for: the level of plaque buildup in arteries, related to risk for cardiovascular disease, stroke and overall vascular health; HDL and LDL Cholesterol levels; Diabetes risk; kidney and thyroid function, and more. Screenings are affordable and convenient. Free parking is also available. Salineville Memorial Day
The Salineville Memorial Day ceremonies are scheduled for Monday, May 27. The schedule includes Honor Guard march leaving Post 442 at 9 a.m. to Creekside Memorial, the Creekside ceremony at 9:15 a.m. at state routes 39 and 164, the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery ceremony at 10 a.m., the Woodland Cemetery ceremony at 11 a.m. and the American Legion John Adams Post 442 luncheon at noon. The guest speaker will be veteran service officer Josh Ackler of the Columbiana County Veterans Service Commission.
Children Serving Veterans dinner
Chester American Legion Post 121, 404 Carolina Ave., will host its Children Serving Veterans dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. June 2 for any veteran and one guest, membership in any organization is not necessary. The even will feature children of area schools. The schedule will include the national anthem by Layne Smith at 3 p.m., My Country 'Tis of Thee by The Anchor House After School Program at 4 p.m. and God Bless America by Bless This Child Ministries at 5 p.m. All the upper Hancock County American Legions and VFW's have come together in support of the children honoring veterans.
