East Liverpool to celebrate National Day of Prayer with breakfast event

EAST LIVERPOOL ­-- The National Day of Prayer will be celebrated in East Liverpool on Thursday, May 2, with a prayer breakfast. These prayer breakfasts began in the community around 40 years ago.

Admittance is by ticket only, and the breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. with the program starting at 7 a.m. It will be held at the East Liverpool Area Community Center at 110 Maine Blvd., located below the East Liverpool High School. Breakfast will be a buffet catered by Connie's Corner of Chester.

Admission will be by ticket only bought in advance. A few tickets are available at $10 each. Tickets can be purchased from committee members, at area churches and the community center. Committee members are Pastors Ernest and Shannon Peachey, John and Sue Richman, Ginny Jackson, Charles Lang, Pastor Mike Dyer, Greg Mead, and Pastor Matt Llewellyn. Plans for the prayer breakfast have been underway since December 2023. Individuals can also reserve their seat or seats this year by registering; send check to Treasurer John Richman, 47995 Calcutta Smith Ferry Road, East Liverpool, OH 43920. Make check payable to the Prayer Breakfast Committee while in the memo line how many are attending.

Pastor Greg Mead will serve as Master of Ceremonies and deliver a welcome. The Tri-State Burial Group will present the colors, and the East Liverpool Christian School Praise Team and soloist Jim Herring will provide music.

Pastor Pettis of the First Baptist Church of Wellsville is the speaker for this year.

Pastors Matt Llewellyn, Greg Mead, Ernest Peachy, Mike Dyer, Ian Leyda, Eric Andrews, James Massie, and David Quillen are others involved in offering prayers for specific needs.

After the program in the morning, the community is invited to gather on the steps of city hall for a brief service praying for the City of East Liverpool. No tickets are required to attend this part of the event, just a desire to pray for God's blessings on the community, its leaders, and its citizens.
