Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers’ Honorary hold April meeting

SALEM - The April meeting of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers' Honorary was held at Ricky's English Pub in Salem. An inspirational poem and prayer were offered by Nancy Dicken.
President Nancy Perkins conducted the business meeting. The minutes and treasurer's reports were accepted. Members were reminded that their dues are to be paid at the May meeting.
Scholarship Chairperson Ann Hall announced that the organization will be offering a $500 scholarship to two high school senior students planning on going into education this fall. These will be announced at their school's respective Award's Day Programs.
Barb Lipp and Perkins provided an update after attending the DKG State Executive Board meeting in Columbus. Sharon Walker offered details from the DKG State Meeting for Treasurers.
The program was provided by Dr. Denise Seachrist, Dean and Chief Administrative Officer of Kent State University at Stark. The Stark Campus is Kent State University's largest regional campus and the only public university in Stark County. Seachrist took the membership on a very impressive journey from her days as a student at Crestview Local Schools in Columbiana County, her undergraduate years at Heidelberg, receiving her master's in vocal music at the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University to her doctorate in musicology-ethnomusicology from Kent State. Seachrist is also very active and on boards in the Stark County community. Locally, she is also a member of the inaugural class of the Crestview Local School District Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.
An installation of the 2024-2026 officers for will be held at the DKG Founders Day Brunch to be held at E.J.'s Restaurant in Chester, West Virginia, May 4 at 10 a.m.
