View the eclipse at the Teapot
Top of West Virginia visitors bureau will be set up from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Monday at the World's Largest Teapot in Chester, W.Va., for the solar eclipse viewing. Peak coverage is estimated to be at 3:16 p.m. at this location. Solar eclipse glasses will be provided to the first 50 attendees.
Calcutta Lions Club pasta dinner
The Calcutta Lions Club will be holding its annual pasta dinner fundraiser at the Calcutta Fire Department Sunday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be eat-in or take-out and dinner includes pasta, bread and butter and a salad with dressing. Proceeds go toward club projects such as scholarships for Beaver Local students, pediatric cancer research and eyeglasses. Tickets are $12 at the door. Spring Craft & Vendor Show canceled
The Spring Craft & Vendor Show originally scheduled for Saturday in Chester City Park has been canceled due to flooding.
Saturday Matinee Movies
The East Liverpool Area Community & Learning Center will host its Saturday Matinee Movies at 2 p.m. every Saturday. Screenings are free and include treats. The following films will be shown in April: April 6, Roman Holiday (1953), an American romantic comedy starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck; April 13, Road to Bali (1945), an American comedy musical starring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamoure; April 20, A Date with Judy (1948), American comedy musical starring Wallace Beery, Jane Powell, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Stack and Carmen Miranda; April 27, The Benny Goodman Story (1956), musical biography starring Steve Allen and Donna Reed. Route 14 intermittent closures
On Friday, between 10 a.m. and noon, state Route 14 will close intermittently to traffic just north of Columbiana for overhead utility line installation. The Ohio State Highway Patrol will perform rolling roadblocks while the contractor runs overhead fiber optic cables across the north and southbound lanes of state Route 14 between state Route 164 and state Route 11. This work will require intermittent closures, each lasting no longer than 15 minutes. Motorists are advised to plan ahead to avoid delays. This work is weather permitting.
Camp Canopy registration
The Northeast Ohio Forestry Association (NEOFA) is currently seeking interested eighth graders through graduating seniors that are interested in attending Camp Canopy June 9 - 14. Camp Canopy is held at the FFA Camp Muskingum in Carrolton. It is a unique camp centered around forestry and wildlife, by learning through adventure. It offers a more in-depth approach and learning opportunity about how the agency manages its resources, wildlife habitats and management, dendrology, silviculture, and more. The NEOFA is accepting sponsorships applications to cover $400 of the $450 camp registration fees.
