Energy Express Youth Application
Hancock County has opened the 2024 Energy Express Youth Application, marking the beginning of an exciting journey into the world of literacy and learning for children in grades 1-6. Energy Express, an award winning free summer reading program, has been a beacon of educational enrichment for youth, fostering a love for reading and exploration. This year, the program is set to take place at Weirton Elementary from June 17 to July 26. Energy Express isn't just about books; it's a comprehensive initiative designed to ignite curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong passion for learning. Through engaging activities, mentorship, and a supportive environment, participants are encouraged to expand their horizons and unlock their full potential. Parents and guardians are encouraged to take this opportunity and enroll their children in the program to ensure a summer filled with growth, fun, and discovery. Lenten fish fry
Members of St. Gabriel Church of Minerva are preparing for their yearly Lenten fish fry. The fish fries begin Feb. 23 and will continue through March 22. Patrons will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dinners include fish (baked or fried), fries or baked potato, slaw, bread, dessert and beverage. Rigatoni dinners are also available. Prices are $12 for adult fish dinners, $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children ages 5 and under. Rigatoni dinners are $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children ages 6 and under. Patrons can eat at the church or carry out at 330-868-4610.
