No January clothing giveaway
The East Liverpool First Church of the Nazarene will not hold a clothing giveaway for the month of January.
Spaghetti dinner in East Liverpool
The East Liverpool Elks Lodge #258 is having a Spaghetti Dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 16. Dinner includes salad, spaghetti, meatballs and dessert. Cost is $11 eat in, $12 take out. No phone orders.
Museum of Ceramics art classes
Art classes will resume at the Museum of Ceramics Jan. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will paint from photographs provided by instructor Sheri Liebschner. All skill levels are welcome including absolute beginners. Participants may paint in watercolor, acrylic or oil. Supplies are not included. The suggested donation per two-hour class is $15. No preregistration required. Class will be held every Monday through March except for Feb. 19 and 26 and March 25. Class will not be held if East Liverpool schools are closed due to weather. Pittsburgh bus trip
The Lisbon Historical Society is sponsoring a bus trip to Pittsburgh April 10. The bus will pull out from the Historical Train Depot behind the First Methodist Church, 114 E. Washington St., at 8:30 a.m. The first stop will be the Fort Pitt Museum, an indoor/outdoor museum in Point State Park. The museum is a recreated bastion, which was originally built by the British in 1758. The historical focus is the role that Fort Pitt played during the French and Indian War, the American Revolution, the Whiskey Rebellion and the founding of Pittsburgh. A tour guide will be provided. Lunch will be at the Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh Restaurant. Menu includes a soft Bavarian pretzel with Bier Cheese, house salad, choice of entree of wiener schnitzel or chicken breast with dunkel bourbon glaze, sides German potato salad and buttered spatzle, and dessert schwarzwalder kirsch torte (black forest cake). Alcohol may be purchased individually. Final stop will be the Carnegie Science Center. A special attraction which will be viewed as a group is the Titanic: the artifact exhibition. The group will journey back in time to the Titanic with stories of real people told through authentic artifacts and immersive environments. After the Titanic exhibition one can explore many other areas of the center. The group will return to Lisbon at approximately 5:30 p.m. The cost is $127 per person and includes all admissions and gratuities. Mail check to: Lisbon Historical Society, P.O. YSU women's scholarship
The scholarship committee of the Women Retirees of Youngstown State University is accepting applications through March 1. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time, junior female student who maintains a minimum 3.0 grade point average. The recipient must be a U.S. citizen and be enrolled in a degree-seeking program. Information about the scholarship is available at www.ysu.edu/finaid/scholarships. Application forms may be printed from the website or picked up at the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship located on the second floor of Meshel Hall at YSU.
