Calcutta Lions Club holds November meeting

CALCUTTA - The Calcutta Lions Club held its regular meeting Tuesday. King Lion Rich Titus called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m., with 14 members in attendance along with guest Ron Anderson from the East Liverpool Lions Club. Lion and Chaplain Marianne Wolf led the invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance was said by all. The meal was provided by Lions Janet and Wayne Christen. Lion Gary Freeh began Tail Twisting with collecting for the "make change" project in which proceeds go to Pediatric Cancer Research. He finished with trivia questions.

Lion Sharon Hall handed out the minutes to the Nov. 14 meeting. Lion Tim Coalmer made a motion to accept, seconded by Lion Kathy Barker. Motion carried.

Wolf handed out the treasurer's report. Lion Joe Hall made a motion to accept, seconded by Lion Kathy Barker. Motion carried.

Freeh reported the next bingo will be Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at Crossroads. He also stated the next blood drive is Dec. 5 at the Peter Metrovich Community Center for the Red Cross.

Further updates on the pasta dinner fundraiser May 5, helping the Christina House and a heath fair will be forthcoming after the first of the year. Lion Carol Anderson suggested holding adult eye screenings at the health fair.

Assessment surveys have been sent to the local fire departments, ambulance services, police department, St. Clair Township trustees and office personnel.

The blessing food box and book box will be built in the spring and placed behind the Calcutta Fire Department.

The Christmas party will be held Dec. 12. The Beaver Local Show Choir will be the entertainment and a donation for them was approved. Proceeds for the in-house auction at the party will be donated to Pediatric Cancer Research.

Lion Wayne Christen will be reaching out to the local pre-schools for eye screenings.

Lion Rosemary Bruehler set ringing of the bell for the Salvation Army for Dec. 16 at Busy Beaver.

The 50/50 was won by Bruehler. Christen made a motion to adjourn at 7:35 p.m.
