History program at Beaver Creek
EAST LIVERPOOL -- The Brigade of the American Revolution and Living Historians are presenting a school learning program based on America's fight for freedom from Britain and living on the 18th century frontier at Beaver Creek State Park Oct. 13.
Students will have the opportunity to experience educational programs during the day. Included in the schedule are musket and cannon firing demonstrations, fur trapping in the canoe camp, militia drill, frontier medicine, log cabin building, writing with quill and ink, and blacksmithing.
Each program will be approximately 30 minutes in duration and will give the students an opportunity to step back into the 18th century. They will hear and talk with the people on how soldiers and pioneers lived and worked in the time when the country was young. Several of the sessions will incorporate hands-on opportunities.
All activities are subject to re-enactor availability.
Check in starts at 9 a.m. The program runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $5 per student; no cost for adult supervisors.

Wellsville library book sale
WELLSVILLE -- The Friends of the Wellsville Library will host a book sale from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 13 and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 14, which will be $1 bag day. Selection will include adult and children's books, hardbacks, paperbacks, audio books, DVDs and video games. The Wellsville Carnegie Public Library is located at 115 9th St.
Tops 1957 meeting
WELLSVILLE -- Tops 1957 of Wellsville met Sept. 19 at the Living Well Church with leader Mary Jarvis opening the meeting with pledges, roll call and then Mary Schmidt led the group in prayer.
Tops best loser was Jami Spring, Kops best loser was Alice Eckstein and Barb M wore the office ribbon.
The dimes were won by Jarvis, and Diane Carnegie won the 50/50 drawing.
The Nono is chips and pizza.
The white elephant sale is going to be Oct. 24 and the paint with T is going to be Nov. 7.
Team #1 is in the lead per Connie Hissam.
Brenda Young gave the program titled "What Is A Heart Attack."
Barb M read the treasurer's report and Young read the minutes; both were approved as read.
Nov. 7 will be the Fall Basket raffle and members will be able to get tickets to sell next week.
Barb Tranter read a funny and then Jarvis closed the meeting wishing all a good week.
Lincoln Park donation to MVFD
MIDLAND -- Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center's Board of Directors presented a $5,000 cash gift to the Midland Volunteer Fire Department so it can purchase desperately needed firefighting apparatus for the hometown heroes who respond when the call is sounded.The donation represents the proceeds from July's Little Anthony & The Music summer oldies concert held on the MainStage at the center.
Accepting the check for the Midland VFD were Fire Chief Joseph D'Itri and firefighter and department President Jeanne Hupp. Richard Corradi, president of the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center Board of Directors, is also a Midland firefighter. The concert, featuring Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame Doo Wop legend Little Anthony, was the first of what the center hopes to be an annual summer music offering starring nationally known acts.Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center also helped several other organizations raise needed funds through its Midland Music Mondayseries of outdoor summer concerts which was sponsored by The Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School.
Chris Shovlin, Lincoln Park's chief executive officer, said, "We recognize the commitment of the members of the Midland Volunteer Fire Department and praise them for their efforts in keeping our community safe. These are hometown heroes who never hesitate to answer the alarm so with that, Lincoln Park wants to help them be outfitted in the safest, most modern firefighting apparatus available and thank them for their unselfish contributions."
