Community Action Agency's HEAP SCP
This is the final month for the Community Action Agency's HEAP Summer Crisis Program (SCP), which runs through Sept. 30. Appointments for the HEAP Summer Crisis may be made by calling the automated phone service at 330-892-8880. The Summer Crisis Program assists low-income households with an older household member (60 years or older) or households that can provide medical documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member's health. This year, households that have a disconnect notice, have been shut off, are trying to establish new electric service, or have PIPP default are also eligible. The HEAP Summer Crisis Program allows for a one-time electric utility payment for eligible households. This assistance must result in the continuation of electric service for at least 30 days. Clients may receive an air conditioner and/or fan(s), or central air conditioning unit repairs. The client must be at least partially responsible for their electric bill to obtain Summer Crisis assistance. Account numbers are required for utility payments. For those who rent and have the bill in the landlord's name, they may receive assistance if they provide documentation showing that they are responsible for the bill. Tenant payments for electricity must be made separately from rent payments. Eligible households can receive up to $500 in electric assistance if they are a customer of a regulated electric utility or up to $800 in electric assistance if they are a customer of unregulated electric utilities, such as cooperatives and municipal utilities. Water and wastewater assistance
This is the final month for the Ohio Department of Development and the Community Action Agency of Columbiana County, Inc. to help income-eligible Ohioans with water and wastewater assistance. The Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program provides eligible Ohioans assistance paying water and wastewater bills. The program has been extended until Sept. 30. At this time, all application interviews are being held at the agency, 7860 Lincole Place, Lisbon. Applicants must have a current water bill due, disconnected, have a disconnect notice, establishing new service, or transferring service. Clients must be a resident of Columbiana County. The bill must be in a household member's name. If the bill is in the landlord's name, a document of responsibility will be needed. Applicants will be required to provide the following documents: a list of all household members and proof of income for the last 30 days or 12 months for each member over age 18; most recent water and/or wastewater bill; proof of citizenship or legal residency; birth date and social security numbers for all household members; proof of disability, if applicable; categorically eligible documents (ex: SNAP paperwork). East Ohio College Graduation
The East Ohio College will hold its annual graduation ceremony at 6 p.m. Sept. 15 in the Beaver Local High School Auditorium. There are estimated to be 40 graduates who will be participating, with approximately 350 family members in attendance. Alumnus Anthony Winston will be this year's commencement speaker. Students will be graduating from the following programs: Nursing, Medical Assisting, Medical Billing Administration, Dental Assisting and Business Administration.
Long's Run Trinity Church lot sale
Long's Run Trinity Church, 15851 Long's Church Road, East Liverpool, will host its parking lot sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The event will include collectibles, books and white elephant sale items. Specialty items such as collectible dolls, china and Pittsburgh Penguins memorabilia will be offered through silent auction. Auction winners will be announced at 2 p.m. A few spaces for artisans, crafters and vendors are still available and may be reserved by contacting the church at 330-385-1127.
