Trinity Parish community dinner
Trinity Parish Presbyterian Church will host its Free Community Dinner from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Newell Volunteer Fireman Community Building, formerly Well School Building. Come to the back of the building and up the ramp. This meal is take out and eat in. This month's meal will include hot sausage or meatball sandwich, tossed salad, chips and dessert. The Free Community Dinner is a mission of Trinity Parish Presbyterian Church and is free and open to all who like good food. October 2023 will mark the 14th year of Free Community Dinners. Auditions for Dr. Jekyll production
Auditions for The Salem Community Theatre's fall production of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, directed by Tyler Moliterno, will be held Sept. 2 and 3, with the possibility of callbacks Sept. 4. Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script. Casting from ages 17 and up. Rehearsals will be Saturdays and Sundays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. beginning Sept. 16, with the possibility of Friday rehearsals added in closer to showtime.Showdates are Oct. 26-29. Calcutta Lions welcome trustee
CALCUTTA -- The Calcutta Lions Club met for its regular meeting Tuesday evening. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all. Lion and Chaplain Marianne Wolf led the invocation.
Guest speaker Jim Sabatini, a St. Clair Township trustee, who spoke on progress in the township.
The club will be selling Steelers Raffle tickets at Busy Beaver Sept. 2 and 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 each. The winner will receive two game tickets to the Steelers vs. Ravens game Oct. 8 in Pittsburgh.
The club will hold a hot dog sale at Busy Beaver Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds, as in all fundraisers, go toward site seeing projects and other community projects. All funds raised must go back into the community.
The club will be playing bingo with residents of Crossroads Friday at 2 p.m.
The club will be hosting a blood drive for the Red Cross Oct. 3. Sign-up to donate on the Red Cross website. The location will be the Peter Metrovich Community Center.
The club will also be holding two area clean-ups. Beaver Creek will be held Sept. 9 and the highway clean up Sept. 23.
The club recently held eye screenings at the Beaver Local back-to-school bash where 17 students were screened with one referral.
The club will be handling registration for the fire department at its Halloween Parade Oct. 28. It will also be handling out candy and participating in the Trunk-or-Treat at Care Funeral Home.
The club decided to have an appreciation picnic for St. Clair Township employees. A date will be solidified soon and invitations will be sent out.
A total of 16 members were in attendance. Those interested in participating in the club can stop in at one of the meetings the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Peter Metrovich Community Center behind the St. Clair Township Police Department.
