Wellsville River Museum
The River Museum in Wellsville will be open from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, with Dale Fellows speaking as George Washington at 2 p.m. Admission to the museum is by donation. Fellows has been re-enacting Washington since 2013. His passion for education about the country's founding fathers, the American Revolution and the formation of the country's self-government has manifested into the portrayal of Washington with great reverence to his amazing life. Having read extensively for many years about our founders, being a frequent visitor and donor to Colonial Williamsburg and Mount Vernon, Fellows takes great care in the accuracy of his historical portrayal and the facts he presents. He has even been invited to do research at the library at Mount Vernon.

CEOS annual picnic meeting
The Hancock County CEOS, Newview Club, will hold its annual picnic meeting at 11 a.m. on Aug. 2 at Tomlinson Run State Park. The club is providing fried chicken and paper goods (plates, napkins, plasticware, etc.) and members are asked to bring their own beverage and a side dish. There will be no lesson for August and no official business will be conducted. This is a time for the club to relax in the great outdoors and just enjoy each other's company.
Food Preservation classes
The Hancock County Community Educational Outreach Service has canceled the remaining Food Preservation classes in 2023. The reason for the cancellation, according to a spokesperson, is a lack of public interest and participation. "There could be a number of reasons for the lack of interest," they said. "Last year we used up the last of the supplies we had purchased pre-pandemic and, of course, with the increases in prices for those supplies, as well as for fresh produce, we had to increase our price significantly. We also moved our classes from weeknights to Saturday mornings, and instituted a no refund policy."
