EAST LIVERPOOL -- Music @theMoC is back after a three-year Covid hiatus. The Museum of Ceramics program will resume on June 8 with a special musical tribute to Bob Walker. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with light refreshments at the museum. The night continues with live music in the Masonic Lodge. Local musicians who will perform include Bill Crawford, Doug Smith, Dennis Kinsey, Ron Bryer, Jim Sabatini, Buddy Schneider, Erin Markley and others.
Director Susan Weaver explained that "Library Jam" was an event the was created by Weaver and Bob Walker when she was director of the library at Kent State University-East Liverpool. "When I left there, I assumed the program would continue at Kent, but Bob approached me when I became director at the museum and convinced me that we should make it a Museum of Ceramics function."
Music @theMoC features local musicians and gives them an opportunity to play original music in a coffee house like setting. Walker was instrumental in arranging for the artists who performed.
Walker was a well-known psychiatrist, professor, musician and East Liverpool booster. His passing over a year ago was hard felt in the East Liverpool community, a community that he loved and that loved him. The music will be dedicated to him and the evening will end with a rendition of "The Hot Dog Shoppe," a song written and often performed by Walker.
