KSU graduate commissioned as second lieutenant with the Ohio Army National Guard

Kamren S. Klakos
KENT – Kamren S. Klakos, son of Lori and Edward Klakos of Rogers, graduated with honors from Kent State University Main Campus. On the same day, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant with the Ohio Army National Guard.
Klakos graduated summa cum laude (3.9-4.0 GPA) from KSU and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Aeronautics and Engineering with a concentration in Aeronautical Studies. While at Kent State University, he also received his private pilot license.
Klakos is scheduled to attend Initial Rotary Wing Training for BlackHawk helicopters at the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He will also complete his required training for Aviation Basic Officer Leadership Course (BOLC) at Fort Rucker. Upon completion of his flight training, he has procured a position in the Army National Guard stationed in Columbus, Ohio. While serving in the Army as an aviator, he will pursue a civilian career in the medical field as a certified EMT/paramedic. Upon completion of his service time, he intends on becoming a medevac pilot.
During his four years at Kent State University, Klakos was assigned leadership roles in the ROTC program including Cadet Command Sergeant Major, Company XO, Company Commander Battalion XO and Battalion Commander. Awards granted to Klakos include Veterans of Foreign Wars Citation and Medal Award, Top MS2 Cadet, Superior Cadet Decoration Award, Top MS3 Cadet, CST RECONDO Award, Distinguished Military Student, and Distinguished Military Graduate.
Academic honors received from Kent State University throughout his four-year college career include Dean’s List, President’s List, National Society of Collegiate Scholars and National Society of Leadership and Success.
Klakos is a 2019 graduate of East Liverpool High School.
