CHESTER - The Chester Garden Club held its first meeting of the year April 26 at EJ's Family Restaurant in Chester. President Susie Wilson conducted the meeting. Donna Stevens read the selection "Count Your Blessings." She also led the group in "The Garden Club Prayer" and gave the blessing before the meal. Secretary Paige Rayle read the minutes from the last meeting. Treasurer Mary Ann Wright gave the treasurer's report.
Thank you cards were received from Lynn Murray Memorial Library Director Connie Doughty and Chester – Newell FISH volunteer Cathy Glass thanking the club for its donations.
Election of officers for 2023 was held. Connie Doughty was chosen as president. Vice president Jeanne Roberts, Wright and Rayle agreed to continue in their current positions.
Members selected the "Almost Heaven" sign along with the neighboring log cabin in Chester to be pictured on the club's 2023 fundraiser jigsaw puzzle.
Roberts, Wilson and Rayle will select and purchase flowers for the planters on Carolina Avenue. Planting will be completed before Memorial Day.
The next meeting will be held May 24 at 1 p.m. at Connie's Corner in Chester. New members are always welcome.
