LISBON - Ashlyn Stalnaker is the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center's May Student of the Month. Ashlyn is a full-day senior from Columbiana High School and is enrolled in the Culinary Careers Program under the instruction of Chef J. R. Straley.
Ashlyn is a member of the SkillsUSA Chapter at the CCCTC. She has earned her OSHA-10 credentials as well as her ServSafe-Person in charge credential. She is also in the process of working toward earning her ProStart certification. She is currently employed at R46 in Canfield where she works as a server/ hostess and prides herself on providing guests with quality service.
Ashlyn's future plans include being employed in her field of study to further her experiences in the culinary world and eventually enlist in the US Navy. Her goals are to use what she learns through work over the next year to assist her when she joins the Navy.
Ashlyn stated, "The CCCTC was a good choice for me because it helps outline a career plan for my future and provides me with skills that will be helpful in almost any job."
Ashlyn was nominated by Straley who stated, "Picking Ashlyn as student of the month was an easy choice. She is hard working, and she has continued to be employed throughout her entire time in the program. She holds a variety of culinary certifications that she can use to further her career in the culinary industry. She is looking at the Navy as her way to expand her career while seeing the world and experiencing other cultures and saving money on school."
Ashlyn is the daughter of Duane and Jill Stalnaker.
