NEW CUMBERLAND -- President Dorothy Hawkes brought the New Cumberland Lions April 11 meeting to order.
Lion Rick Tinsky offered the prayer and Hawkes led the pledge. The minutes were accepted as read.
Communications were received from the WV Lions Youth Camps and Exchange and the Leader Dogs for the Blind thanking the New Cumberland Lions Club for recent donations. The treasurer's report was placed on file for audit.
The New Cumberland Lions Club has four large brooms for sale at $17 each and 11 small brooms for sale at $14 each. Anyone who would like a broom should call 304-479-5855 or send a private message to Leslie N Ed Fields on Facebook.
Treasurer Alan Lee noted that he has contacted the Chester and Newell Lions Clubs to coordinate the Student of the Month scholarship presentation.
The Nominating Committee, chaired by Immediate Past President Andrew Kefer, is in the process of completing a roster of officers to be nominated for the 2023-2024 year. Once the nominees are presented to the club, the floor will be opened for additional nominations.
Lion Joyce Young reported on the recent Zone meeting. Lion Tom Stiles is working with Lion Jeanne Cox to put together a flag program that will be presented to the students at the New Manchester Elementary School on April 21. It will include a demonstration by the Tri-State Marines on how to properly fold the flag.
Lion Andrew Kefer informed the Club that Oak Glen will be presenting the play "The Addams Family" on May 5, 6, 11, 12, 13 and 14. Lion Jennifer Meeker noted that the Music and Art Oak Glen will have a one-day event at Oak Glen on Saturday, April 15, beginning at 10 a.m. Admission is free to the public. Tributes will be made to the late John Edwards and the late Kelsey Hayward, both former members of the New Cumberland Lions Club.
With no further business, Hawkes adjourned the meeting.
