LISBON -- The driver in an accident which left a Lisbon teen injured after falling out of the back of a pickup last July is now facing charges for leaving the scene.
Bradden Crumrine, 20, Cusick Road, Lisbon, was served Tuesday with a secret indictment issued by the Columbiana County Grand Jury for four counts of failure to stop after an accident, two fourth-degree felonies and two fifth-degree felonies.
The charges all stem from the July 24, 2022 accident that occurred after 3 a.m. on Steubenville Pike Road when Ethan Samuel Hart, who was 16 at the time, of Lisbon, suffered serious injury. He had reportedly been riding in the back of the pickup driven by Crumrine when he fell out.
According to the accident report, Crumrine claimed he didn't know Hart was in the back of the pickup when his passengers told him to slow down because Hart had fallen out. He went back to the scene and left when he heard the cops were coming. The report also said witnesses told troopers that Crumrine knew Hart was in the pickup. In a subsequent interview, he allegedly admitted he knew Hart was in the bed of the pickup.
Two of the charges, one a fourth-degree felony and one a fifth-degree felony, referred to the injured teen, and two charges referred to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Columbiana County Prosecutor Vito Abruzzino explained the difference between the two counts, saying that one alleges the incident resulted in injury or failure to notify the patrol while the other alleges the defendant knew his actions would result in injury or a failure to notify the patrol.
Other secret indictments served Tuesday included:
-- Aaron Francis, 37, Lisbon Street, East Liverpool, third-degree felony domestic violence, for allegedly attempting to harm a person on July 4, 2022, with two prior convictions for domestic violence on his record.
-- Chloe Sorgman, 22, Black Road, Lisbon, two counts fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs with specification for forfeiture of money in a drug case, for allegedly possessing amphetamine and psilocyn and $490 on July 31, 2022.
-- Rachel Zelasko, 38, Crews Road, Wellsville, possession of fentanyl-related compound, for allegedly possessing fentanyl-related compound on Aug. 4, 2022.
-- David Sisco Jr., 32, Sixth Street, Wellsville, third-degree felony illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the ground of a specified governmental facility, fifth-degree felony possession of fentanyl-related compound, and misdemeanors of possessing of drugs and endangering children, for an incident on Oct. 14, 2021 when he allegedly possessed tramadol and fentanyl-related compound, put a child at risk and took drugs into a facility.
