Nominations for officers
The second nomination for 2023-2024 officers for the Alfred H. Wedgewood American Legion Post 374 will be held at 10 a.m. April 2 at the post home, 1824 Parkway Ave., East Liverpool.
Springhill Cemetery decorations
All Christmas/winter decorations at Springhill Cemetary, Wellsville, need to be removed by April 15.
Vendor and Craft Fair at BLHS
Teen World Ministries will be sponsoring a Vendor and Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Beaver Local High School Cafeteria. Over 25 vendors and artisans will be set up to sell their wares. A ticket auction of various items will take place during the fair. For information contact Scott Chamberlain at 330-831-6384.
Kelly Bear C.A.R.E.S program
Southern Local Elementary School is bringing back its Kelly Bear C.A.R.E.S. program to share the importance of making good choices. School Resource Officer Deputy Jeff Haugh will visit kindergarten classes to show videos and discuss character-building skills in an eight-week session now through May 25. Kelly Bear C.A.R.E.S., or Character and Resilience Education Skills, is an annual program geared towards kindergarteners to help enhance their total development and prevent problem behaviors by promoting 12 key skills: self-awareness and self-respect, emotional understanding of self and others, social competence and constructive peer relationships, self-control, empathy and kindness towards others, problem solving and anger management skills, respect for individual differences, healthy living choices, perseverance and resiliency, refusal skills, personal safety and character traits such as honesty and responsibility. Classes will learn such behaviors as politeness and sharing; healthy topics from exercise and nutrition to positive ways to express feelings; and safety tips for home and school.
TOPS 1341
Ohio Tops Chapter 1341 met Monday at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church with Leader Darlene Naukam presiding. The meeting opened with pledges and the roll-call.
Darla Varney was the Best Loser and Dena White was Runner Up. Drawing winners were Mary Gailey for Calorie Chart, Naukam for Weight Loss and 50/50, and Lydia Kraft for Junk Food.
Varney continues to hold the Travel Box and Kandice Kraft returned from vacation without a gain. Six Tops remain in the Check Contest.
Varney's program, entitled "Get Your 8 Hours - sleep quality and quantity affect weight," came from an article in the TOPS magazine.
The meeting closed with The Lord's Prayer.

TOPS 1957
Tops 1957 from Wellsville met March 21 at the Living Well Church with leader Donna Lee opening the meeting with pledges and roll call. Barb Q led the group in prayer.
Tops best loser was Lee, who also wore the officers ribbon. Jami Spring had three weeks with no weight gain and Mary Jarvis was the inchworm for February. The dimes will be carried over and Gladys Buzzard won the truck donated by Jarvis.
The Nono for the week was all sweets.
Barb M gave the treasurer's report and Brenda Young read the minutes. Both were approved as read.
Jarvis announced that the contest continues and next week members are to lose a quarter of a pound and receive a puzzle piece, if someone loses a half pound they get two more pieces of their puzzle. Also members are to exercise for 15 minutes for four days. If there is an x on their puzzle piece this means that it is a corner piece.
