The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center is committed to recognizing students who both excel in their career tech lab as student of the month as well as students who excel in the academic classroom as scholar of the month.
CCCTC's April Scholar of the Month is Kayla Ridgley. A full-day student, Kayla is a senior veterinary science technology student from Beaver Local High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Technical Honor Society, and the FFA. She also spends her free time volunteering in local shelters and working with rescue animals.
Upon graduation from the CCCTC and Beaver Local High School, Kayla plans to gain employment and pursue post-secondary education in the field of veterinary science. She would also like to spend time volunteering at shelters and working with rescue animals since there is a great need for help in those areas.
Kayla's teachers say that she is incredibly mature beyond her years and self-disciplined. She accepts nothing less than perfection in her work and takes great pride in everything that she does. She will excel in anything that she chooses to do in the future.
About her choice to attend the CCCTC, Kayla said, "The key to success is perseverance. Set realistic goals for yourself and cultivate a strong work ethic to achieve them. By teaching yourself to be self-motivated and following through with organized action, you can better develop great employability skills that will prove to be quite valuable in the future. My time at the CCCTC has allowed me to hone my skillset and familiarize myself with the environment of my chosen career field. It has also allowed me the chance to build upon my resume and increase my personal experience. I truly appreciate the hard work and dedication that the teachers here display in regard to making their students successful and encourage others who are interested in the CCCTC to check it out."
Kayla is the daughter of Marlene Ridgley and Randy Smith.
