Taylor Allison named Scholar of the Month
Taylor Allison
NEW MANCHESTER — Taylor Allison,18, daughter of Scott and Pandie Allison of New Manchester, has been named the Oak Glen High School Lions Club Scholar of the Month for December. The Lions Club Program is sponsored by District 29L Region 1, zone 1, Lions Clubs in Chester, New Cumberland and Newell, WV.
A senior at Oak Glen High School, she is a member of the National Honor Society with a grade-point average of 4.07. She is a member of the Prom Committee, Yearbook Staff and Key Club.
In 2019, Allison was chosen to attend the American Legion Auxiliary West Virginia Rhododendron Girls’ State at Davis Elkins College. In 2018 she represented OGHS in the Weirton Rotary Club Youth Leadership Program in which she participated in a training program in leadership, communication and problem solving through the, “I Believe Leadership” conference at WLU. She received Distinguished on the Smarter Balanced /ACT tests.
She is a 4 year letterman on the Oak Glen Varsity soccer team. She participated in the 2019 State Girls Soccer Tournament. She was named to the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. She was a wrestling statistician 2017-2019.
She is a member, 2018 president, of the Sundowners 4H Club where she competes in western horseback gaming and volunteers in community service including community clean up and service projects for seniors and military. She was voted Outstanding Member 2017. She also earned received a state blue ribbon for her woodworking projects. Other community service includes volunteering at the Legion, Orchards and Storybook Cafe.
Her career goal is to become a physician assistant. Upon graduation, she will have completed 20 plus hours of credit through Northern Community College. She plans to major in Biology at West Liberty University and pursue a degree as a physician assistant.
