New Cumberland Lions Club
NEW CUMBERLAND – New Cumberland Lions Club met Sept. 27, with First Vice President Don Deemer presiding in the absence of President, Barb Blackwell. Lion Don Greathouse gave the invocation, while Lion Ed Fields led members in the Pledge to the Flag of the United States. The minutes of the Sept. 13 meeting were read with one correction for the Jack Harris Memorial Walk-A-Thon for sight to be held Nov. 5, not Nov. 15. Treasurer Lion Jim Wells, read the financial report, which was placed on file.
Lion Sherri Alford explained the Penny Auction Fundraiser, which will be held Oct. 29, at the Hancock County Senior Center. The doors open at 4 p.m. and the auction will begin at 5. Any donations for the auction can be dropped off on the day of the event by noon at the center. The New Cumberland United Methodist Youth Group will be asked to volunteer. Food will be sold and any dessert donations from Lion members would be appreciated. An explanation was given for the Penny Auction signs and donation letters, which were given to all Lion members. Lion Rick Tinsky noted that there will be a Christian based program known as, “Celebrate Recovery”, to be held every Thursday at the New Cumberland Christian Church. A light meal will be served at 5:15 p.m. with the program beginning at 6. Those who have, but limited to, drug problems and psychological issues are welcome to attend.
Lion Joe Ghenne introduced his son-in-law, Andrew Kifer, as a guest and potential new member.
The next regular Lion’s Club meeting will be Oct. 11.
Lion Dick Blackwell made the motion to adjourn the meeting with a second by Lion Joe Ghenne.
