It appears American Pickers has made some stops in Ohio, including one in nearby Carroll County.
A mass press release was issued throughout the state in August, putting out the message that the popular History channel television show was interested in visiting the Buckeye State.
The show features “pickers” Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz from Antique Archeology, a business owned by Wolfe and based in LeClaire, Iowa. The duo are antique and collectible “pickers,” and they travel the country in search of unique finds.
According to the Canton Repository’s website, Patsy Varner, 76, of Washington Township in Caroll County, will be featured in a future episode after the show’s stars visited her home in September.
“They went through cobwebs and everything,” Varner told the newspaper. “They couldn’t have been any nicer.”
Varner said among the items “picked” were two antique gasoline pumps, a grease gun and an old ballot-collection box from the Caroll County Board of Elections that Varner said she had purchased at an auction.
She reportedly was paid some $4,000 for the items.
Another reported stop was in Monroeville, Ohio, located in Huron County, which sits atop northern-central Ohio.
In Monroeville, the popular “pickers” visited three locations associated with the late George Roeder, a member of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
While there, Wolfe and Fritz spent time at the Roeder’s museum, racing shop and home. According to family members, the crew spent some 12 hours on location.
