SVNA nears a century of service

SALEM -- Salem Area Visiting Nurse Association (SVNA) is approaching 100 years of service to the region.
Originally started in 1919 under the National Red Cross, the SVNA was abandoned by the Red Cross in 1950 and Salem Home Nursing became incorporated as a non-profit agency in 1950.
A recipient agency of Northern Columbiana County United Way, the SVNA is certified by the Joint Commission, Medicare and VA. Services offered include nursing, specializing in wound care, diabetes, pediatrics and psych nursing; occupational, physical, and speech therapy; and home health aides.
Staff members work under physician orders with home bound patients, and also offer adult day care services and flu shots. The SVNA is a provider for Medicare, Ohio Medicaid and accepts most other insurances.
Services are offered throughout Columbiana County, southern Mahoning County, and a portion of Stark County.
