WEIRTON-- ICF International on behalf of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has selected CHANGE Inc. as a member of the 2017 Focus on People with Disabilities Cohort.
The convening was scheduled May 8-9 at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. Training was to be provided on several financial savings curriculums including Money Smart financial education. These resources address a wide range of financial empowerment topics, including those of special importance to people with disabilities. The purpose of this event will help other organizations explore ways to help those with disabilities become financially empowered.
"West Virginia has the highest working population with SSDI benefits in the country. CHANGE Inc. is both a multi-service community action agency and community health center that is well respected in our community and currently working with the targeted population," stated Judy Raveaux, CEO of CHANGE.
Joy Reese, the Housing Counseling manager with CHANGE, who became certified with the Money Smarts tool in 2006, provides individuals with housing and credit counseling assistance daily.
"As a participant of this convening, our agency will receive further training and tools to better address our community needs, especially when working with those who have special needs or disabilities," Reese said. "This will only help us to further expand our knowledge to those in need."
Reese was to attend the cohort on behalf of CHANGE.
