CHANGE offers Weatherization applications

NEWELL -- CHANGE Inc. always accepts applications for services through the Weatherization Assistance Program -- designed to assist in reducing energy use for low-income, elderly, and disabled individuals by improving the energy efficiency of their homes while ensuring their health and safety.

In 2016, 45 households received weatherization services and 34 households received energy audits.

This program is open to individuals and families living in Hancock, Brooke, Ohio and Marshall counties that meet the program's income guidelines.

"A family of four individuals could make as much as $48,600 in total annual household income and be eligible for assistance through the Weatherization Assistance Program," stated David Ruhl, Weatherization manager at CHANGE Inc.

ADAPT earns state distinction

LISBON -- The Alcohol Drug Abuse Prevention Team (ADAPT) Coalition has been designated as an Ohio Coalition of Excellence.

The Ohio Coalition of Excellence (OCoE) is a designation sponsored by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, designed to recognize excellence for coalitions who work in the behavioral health or a related prevention field.

Becoming an Ohio Coalition of Excellence illustrates that the ADAPT Coalition is using local data and evidence-based prevention strategies to create meaningful change in Columbiana County, a release reads.

ADAPT Coalition was formed in 2008 and is administered by the Family Recovery Center Education Department. The mission of the ADAPT Coalition is to plan and implement strategies to prevent and reduce youth substance use. The Coalition's goal is to motivate the community to promote and support healthy lifestyles for all residents and to eliminate underage use of alcohol and other drugs.
