LISBON -- There will be a Halloween grand opening for the "Social 45" this Saturday, owner Jennifer Booth said.

The Social 45 facility, located at 6885 state Route 45, in the former Csonka's Sports Complex, features indoor and outdoor stages for live entertainment and one of the largest dance floors in the area.

There are 27 outdoor picnic tables.

The business caters to diverse genres while providing a venue for various events, Booth said.

This Saturday, for its grand opening, Social 45's Halloween party will run from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. with a DJ, door prizes, 50/50 drawing and specialty drinks. VIP passes will be given with every door prize.

A costume contest will award $100 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place for best costumes judged on creativity, detain and crowd response.

Booth said the venue offers an ideal setting for parties, reunions, fund raisers and much more, and the surrounding scenery is a beautiful backdrop for wedding ceremonies, receptions and graduation parties.

Social 45 will start a Queen of Hearts game with the first drawing at 6 p.m., this Sunday, Booth said.

It's a place where "people can come and socialize," she said, "and enjoy items from a limited menu (sloppy joes, hotdogs, pulled pork and meat loaf), play corn hole, watch television or just listen to music."

Beverages like craft beers will be offered for events as well as for catering and entertainment while there are plans to put the two baseball fields and sand volleyball courts into action in the warm-weather months.

"I want people to feel good when they're here," said Booth, who was the general manager at the old Ponderosa Restaurant in Salem.

Several local bands including Megaband, Route 45 and Northern Whiskey are scheduled, Cathy Jones will teach line dancing 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays and an open acoustic mic night with local DJ Bill Henceroth will be featured.

Mea Myers, the event coordinator for Social 45, said there will be a "Freedom Party" fundraiser for Salem VFW Post 892 on Nov. 12, an event she is coordinating with Valerie Dennison.

Booth said they are holding a holiday vendor show Dec. 17.

"We have 40 vendors lined up," she said, adding that it be a chance for people to do last minute Christmas shopping.

Social 45 is open beginning 3 p.m. weekdays and starting at noon on the weekend.

People wanting to book the facility can email Booth at boothark@yahoo.com or call 330-424-7033 or 330-277-6483.
