NEWELL – CHANGE Inc. has opened a satellite facility at 1151 Washington St. in Newell, to better address the barriers to care of the rural communities of upper Hancock County.
The new location, open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Saturday, will provide medical services such as pediatrics, family health, obstetrics, gynecology, and behavioral health services to start. Dental care will be added at a later time.
The office also will have available applications and information on the other community service programs offered by the agency which include weatherization, housing, domestic violence, transportation, vision program, supportive services for veteran families, after-school and summer food meals for youth, and various other outreach services.
“The medical clinic is a satellite office of our Weirton facility and generated 30 new hires for the area,” stated Judy Raveaux, CEO of CHANGE. “The need for this facility in upper Hancock County surfaced through our Community Needs Assessment three years ago, and through that assessment, came a lot of planning and grant writing to make it happen.
“The medical clinic falls under the Federal Qualified Health Care Center (FQHC) program and makes our fourth site within our service area of Brooke and Hancock County of West Virginia and Jefferson County of Ohio.”
As with CHANGE’s other locations, the medical clinic is open to anyone, regardless of their insurance status. As a FQHC, the facility accepts most insurance and provide discounts for medical care to those who fall at, or below, 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.
Raveaux said “our Community Services Coordinator will be available to work with any individual who feels they might qualify for the discounts. With the facility being open 12 hours a day, Monday thru Saturday, walk-ins are also welcomed.”
Starting immediately, the staff is able to book appointments for Dr. Kailey Littleton, pediatrician; Dr. Banu Myneni, family practice; Dr. Manuel Ballas, OB/GYN; Dr. Diana Carmona, OB/GYN; Dr. Cynthia Gray, OB/GYN; Dr. Satyasagar Morisetty, internal medicine/pulmonary/obesity; and certified nurse practitioners: Natalie Holden, Paula Knight, Sandra Lang, Lynn Miller, and Jessica Valesko.
