Kara and David Issod

SCOTTSDALE, Pa. – Kara Nicole McElwain and David Jason Issod were united in marriage Aug. 2, 2014, at West Overton Village, Scottsdale, Pa. Tim Carson performed the afternoon garden ceremony. The reception followed at The Barn at West Overton.

The bride is the daughter of Jim and Pam McElwain of Calcutta. the groom is the son of Craig and Martha Issod of Southampton, Mass. The grandparents are Donna Dye of Calcutta, Evelyn Gould of Delray Beach, Fla., and Jay and Jerre Issod of Bel Harbour, Fla.

The bride was escorted by her father and the couple’s union was blessed by her parents. She wore a vintage inspired champagne dress with an ivory lace overlay. The trumpet style, v-neck dress was adorned with pearlescent crystals, a rhinestone belt and a sweeping train. The bouquet was an original design, handmade by the bride, using satin ribbon roses and antique rhinestone brooches.

Natalie Tranelli-Jacobs, friend of the bride, served as the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Bridget Barrett and Kate Kay, friends of the bride. They wore blush pink and mint green knee-length dresses of varying styles. They carried bouquets of burlap ribbon roses and crystal brooches, handmade by the bride. Isabella Matthew, niece of the groom, was the flower girl.

Manuel Robles, friend of the groom, served as the best man. Groomsmen were Russell Novak and Mark Perrone, friends of the groom. Brandon McElwain and Ryan McElwain, brothers of the bride, assisted in the ceremony with the vows and exchanging of rings. Morgan McElwain, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer.

The bride received her Master’s Degree and Education Specialist Degree from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. She is a school psychologist with Pittsburgh Public Schools.

The groom received his Master’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Pittsburgh’s Youth Advocacy Program, Inc.

Following a honeymoon in Aruba, the couple is residing in Pittsburgh.
