SALEM – Sarah Jane Yonkey, daughter of Ronald and Nancy Yonkey of Salem, and Jordan Ross McCoy, son of Nancy Graham and Bill McCoy of Gahanna, Ohio were married on May 31 at two thirty in the afternoon. The bride is the granddaughter of Josephine (Kicko) Kataro of Salem.
Vows were exchanged in a double-ring ceremony at Holy Trinity English Lutheran Church, 1089 E. State Street Salem, with Rev. Barbara Holzhauser of Reformation Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eastlake, Ohio and the groom’s uncle, Rev. Eric Holle of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Crownsville, Md., officiating.
The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father. The bride wore an ivory, strapless, allover beaded corded lace, A-line gown with a chapel train along with her mother’s finger-tip veil of French silk illusion. The bride also wore pearl earrings and a matching necklace that belonged to her late grandmother. The bride’s bouquet of purple irises, lavender roses, off-white roses, purple asters and tiki were adorned with a gold cross which her mother and grandmother wore on their wedding days and photo charms of her grandparents, the late Emil Kataro, the late Ronald Yonkey and the late Jane Yonkey (Brant).
Randi McFadden of Springfield was the matron of honor. She wore a sleeveless crinkle chiffon dress with a y-neckline in regency purple. She carried a bouquet of lavender and off-white roses and purple asters accented with tiki. The best man was the groom’s father.
Alexandria Yonkey, niece of the bride, was the flower girl. She wore a knee length ivory dress and carried a small bouquet of lavender roses, off-white roses, and purple asters accented with tiki.
Jason Yonkey, Jr., nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer. He carried a Lutheran prayer book belonging to the groom’s great-great grandfather, Charles Snyder. The book was a gift from Charles’ father Wilson Snyder in 1882.
Ushers were Ronald Yonkey, III of Minerva and Jason Yonkey, Sr. of Lordstown. Both brothers of the bride.
Guests were registered by Miss Rebekah Stewart of Severn, Md. Music was provided by Sue Deutschlander.
A reception to honor the couple followed at Avion on the Water in Canfield. The bridal couple danced to “Like Jesus Does” by Eric Church. The bride and her father danced to “I loved her First” by Heartland.
For their Honeymoon, the couple visited family historical sites that included Gettysburg National Military Park; Historic Huguenot Street in New Paltz, New York; Kingston, New York; Hagerstown, Maryland; Front Royal, Virginia and Romney, West Virginia.
The new couple are residing in Reynoldsburg. The bride is a 2001 graduate of West Branch High School and a 2005 graduate of Capital University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. She is employed as the hospital manager at the Dogs Only Medical Center and the Ohio Veterinary Dental Service.
The groom, a 2001 graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School, also graduated in 2005 from Capital University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history. He is employed as a Park Ranger for Franklin County Metro Parks and is the coordinator of the Gahanna Municipal Golf Course.
