Standleys celebrate 70th anniversary
EAST LIVERPOOL — Reverend and Mrs. Wayne F. Standley will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary today Feb. 5, 2017. They were married Feb. 5, 1947 in a ceremony performed by the Reverend C. L. Yoder in the parsonage of the Penn. Avenue Methodist Church on Erie Street. Their attendants were Floyd Standley, cousin of the groom as Best Man, and Elsie Dawson, as Maid of Honor.
Mrs. Standley is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Owen D. Kountz. She served in many offices in their various churches, including Sunday School teacher, superintendent and President of the Women’s Society.
Mr. Standley is the son of Pearl Simms and stepson of Hallie Simms. He is a US Army veteran and retired from Midland Crucible Steel as an electrician. He preached at Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Hammondsville, Anderson United Methodist Church in East Liverpool and the Wellsville Nazarene Church.
They have three children: Dan of Louisville, Tenn.; Chuck of North Canton; and Heidi of East Liverpool. They also have 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
