ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Beaver Local’s wrestling team took second on Tuesday at the Buckeye 8 wrestling tournament. Winning for the Beavers was Jordan Bates at 106 pounds, Bobby Buchheit at 144 and Nick Marra at 190. Barnesville won four weight classes to take first with 270.5 points. SALINEVILLE — Southern Local’s girls basketball team is set to go for an outright Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference title and the school record for wins in a season on Wednesday as the Indians host Columbiana. The Indians are 21-0 after a 49-40 win over Caldwell on Saturday in the OVAC Class 2A final at the ECO Center. It was the first OVAC championship for the school. WINTERSVILLE — About 48 hours after meeting with a trophy on the line, Oak Glen and Indian Creek were back on the court facing off again. After fending off the Golden Bears for the OVAC championship on Saturday night, the Redskins came out Monday night at home with a lot of energy and never trailed on the way to a 44-28 repeat victory in a makeup game on Coach D Court.
