The manager of the Lisbon McDonald's reported at 11:06 a.m. Tuesday a man was sleeping behind their dumpster fence. Deputies responded and found one man sitting on a curb for his ride to pick him up. Then another man was found lying on a bedroll on the north side of the garbage enclosure. Jeffrey Lockard, 60, New Springfield, told deputies he had an appointment at a nearby government office and had to wait for two hours for paperwork and his ride. Deputies explained he cannot sleep on the McDonald's property. Deputies called an employee of the government office, who said Lockard could get his paperwork at that time and he agreed to leave.
Deputies checked the building and area around Jim's Tire, state Route 39, Wellsville, at 12:18 p.m. Sunday after an alarm went off. Everything appeared secure.
Barbara Ferguson, Waterford Road, East Palestine, reported at 11:13 p.m. Friday she heard someone outside. Deputies checked the exterior of the property and across the road at the church and found no one.
An overdose was reported at 1:31 p.m. Sunday in a Toyota near a bridge on Hibbetts Mill Road. An ambulance was there and they were talking to the driver, Justin Gunther, Boyd Road, Wellsville. Another man was walking around and said he did not see Gunther do any drugs, but he was acting strangely. Gunther told deputies he guesses he did a line of heroin. He agreed to go to the hospital.
A 34-year-old woman was reported cutting her own wrists and having stabbed herself in the chest on McCann Road, Hanover. at 5:03 p.m. Tuesday. The woman was found sitting in the back seat of a car and refusing to talk to EMS. The grandmother said the woman has some mental issues and can be violent. Deputies found there was a warrant for her out of Stark County which also had warnings about her being violent. Deputies were able to remove her from the car and place her on the ambulance cart to be transported to Alliance Community Hospital, where she could be picked up by Stark County authorities when she is released.
Matthew Altomare, Metz Road, Columbiana, reported at 7:16 p.m. Tuesday there was a farmer in the field next to him spraying something which smelled like ammonia. Deputies found the farmer on a tractor spreading liquid ammonia nitrogen for his corn crop and doing nothing wrong.
Deputies found open sliding glass doors at the west end of Mark's Landing at 12:18 a.m. Wednesday. Additional unsecured doors were found leading to the back of the business and one leading to the outside terrace. There were no signs someone broke in or moved anything out of place.
Deputies checked the area of state Route 170 around Negley at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday where a woman was said to be walking down the road and when someone had stopped to ask if she needed a ride, she reportedly brandished a knife while threatening to kill herself because nobody liked her. No woman was found.
Jennifer Duffield, Dyke Road, Middleton Township, reported trouble between neighbors at 5:14 p.m. Monday. Deputies spoke to a child, who said some of his friends were over at his home when a neighbor began to yell at them. The woman reportedly told the children to go onto their own property if they were going to fight. The boy explained the people at his home were his friends and they were not going to fight. However, he admitted to calling the woman a bad name. Duffield, who had called, said she was concerned the children were going to fight and she did not want her children to see them.
