A Cleveland-area man has been charged in Columbiana County Municipal Court with robbing an East Palestine man at gunpoint back in September.
Ignacio Rios, 26, of Berea, has been charged with aggravated robbery, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
According to court documents, Rios traveled to East Palestine on Sept. 4 to collect on an alleged drug debt owed him by William Tondo. Rios was driven by James “Jimbo” Strait to where Tondo was staying and once inside the house pulled a handgun.
While holding Tondo at gunpoint, Rios allegedly ordered Strait to remove items from the residence. Stolen were two portable DVD players and a TV belonging to Tondo’s mother.
In other court action, Leanna Howell, 30, Wilbert Avenue, East Liverpool, was fined $150 after being found guilty of driving under suspension.
Preston Wright, 25, Forest Street, Lisbon, was fined $150 after being found guilty of marijuana possession.
Damien Hamilton, 19, North Ellsworth Street, Salem, was fined $150 after being found guilty of marijuana possession.
Michael Franklin, 54, Farr Street, Rogers, pleaded innocent to driving under suspension and driving with an expired vehicle registration, and a pretrial hearing is scheduled for Jan. 18.
Katti L. Landsberger, 25, Hawkins Road, New Waterford, pleaded innocent to driving under suspension, and a pretrial hearing is scheduled for Jan. 18.
Erin R. Atkinson, 27, Pembrooke Drive, Salem, pleaded innocent to driving without a license, and a pretrial hearing is scheduled for Feb. 1.
Reagan Brenner, 19, Columbia Street, Leetonia, was fined $150 after being found guilty of possessing marijuana.
Casey R. Carter, 25, Maple Avenue, Wellsville, was found guilty of possessing drug abuse instruments and fined $100 and sentenced to 22 days in the county jail, in addition to credit for 68 days already served. She was charged after a police officer responding to a possible drug overdose at her home on June 12 found Carter passed out on the sidewalk with a syringe sticking out of the top of her shirt.
