Johnnie E. Schmutz, 67, West High Street, Minerva, and Kristy Lynn Burruss, 36, Homeworth Road, Homeworth, were eastbound on U.S. 62 in Knox Township at 3:24 p.m. Monday and Schmutz struck Burruss from behind. Schmutz was cited for assured clear distance.
Charles A. Slocum, 25, North Jefferson Street, Lisbon, was northbound on state Route 164 in Center Township at 1 a.m. Sunday and went off the left side into a dirt pile. He was cited for failure to control, seat belt, leaving the scene and driving under OVI suspension.
Kolten A. Brunner, 15, Sandy Creek Road, Minerva, was northbound on Bayard Road in West Township at 12:30 p.m. Saturday and went off the left side into an embankment and rolled over. He was cited for failure to control and taken to Alliance hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Marc Haney, 30, of Wellsville was entering state Route 11 in the southbound lane from the state Route 154 on ramp, when he crashed his 1997 GMC Sonoma first into the right side of the bridge barrier and then crossed over and struck the left side of the bridge, coming to rest sideways across the southbound lanes. According to State trooper Race Baker, Haney was not in his vehicle when he arrived at the accident scene. Trooper Baker scoured the area looking for Haney. Trooper Baker was searching in the northbound lane when he spotted Haney lying in the creek bed of the Middle Fork of Little Beaver Creek. It is now believed that Haney got out of his vehicle and fell over the bridge side barrier, landing 60 feet below in the creek off the west side of the southbound lane. Haney is hospitalized with extensive injuries to his head, back and pelvis that were a result of the fall. Haney will be cited for OVI and failure to control.
