In Columbiana County Municipal Court, Malik D. Shabazz, 19, Washington Avenue, Salem, was bound over to the county grand jury, charged with inducing panic and obstructing official business. Shabazz allegedly ran from Salem police after they received several reports he had a handgun at the basketball courts in Centennial Park and attempted to check him for weapons.
An Oct. 16 preliminary hearing was set for Deanna M. Lodge, 40, South Lundy Avenue, Salem, charged with assault and domestic violence. Lodge is accused of punching her boyfriend Donald Huff in the face and his roommate Edward Little as well.
Jedediah J. Hill, 32, Youngstown, was bound over to the grand jury for a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Hill is accused of refusing to return a vehicle he borrowed from Joseph Dominic for at least 10 days.
An Oct. 17 preliminary hearing was set for Anthony W. Crumpton, 31, Columbus, charged with felonious assault for allegedly entering the home of Destiny Earich and awaking her by hitting her in the face and body repeatedly on Aug. 12.
Paul E. Meyers, East Chestnut Street, Lisbon, was bound over to the grand jury on a domestic violence charge. Meyers is accused of grabbing Amy Haines and shoving her into a table on their porch and then onto the ground on Oct. 4.
An Oct. 16 pretrial was set for Eric J. Whisel, 23, North Lundy Avenue, Salem, cited with theft and discharge of firearms for allegedly firing three 12-gauge aerial flares into the air on Oct. 4. The theft charge was for allegedly placing candy into his girlfriend's hoodie at the Salem Speedway on Wednesday.
An Oct. 16 pretrial was set for Kimberly I. Edie, 25, East Fourth Street, Salem, charged with theft for allegedly helping her boyfriend concealing more than $8 in candy merchandise into her hoodie pocket without paying at Speedway in Salem on Wednesday.
An assault charge against William McFarland, 26, South Union Avenue, Salem, was dismissed on a motion of the prosecution citing a lack of cooperation by the victim. McFarland was accused of entering an apartment and assaulting Jacob Miller on Aug. 4.
