EAST LIVERPOOL -- Winners in the Christmas parade, held Dec. 2, have been announced by The Beacon Association, which sponsored the annual event.
Taking best overall honors was a float entered by the East Liverpool High School Career-Tech Center, which also won the Mayor's Choice Award.
In the marching unit category, winners were (in order of placement): Wellsville High School Band, East Liverpool High School Band and Oak Glen High School Band.
The Sassy Silks took top honors in the baton group, with East Liverpool cheerleaders taking second place and Carnation City Twirlers, third place.
In the novelty group, Kent State University was first, Stowers Rentals, second and Four Wheeling Friends, third.
First place in the color guard category was Boy Scout Troop 41, with American Legion Post 374 taking second and Carnation City Twirlers, third.
In the show category, winners (in order of placement) were Jerry's Auto, First Class Towing and First Church of the Nazarene.
First place in the float category went to East Liverpool Career-Tech Center, with second place going to Scott Cosmetology College and third to Pacific Rod Iron & Lilly of the Valley Landscaping.
Winners in the business window contest were Bob & Robins Flower Shop, first; New Castle School of Trades, second; and Carriage House, third.
Named Little Miss Snowflake was Natalie Wilkinson, 4, East Liverpool; Jack Frost was Marqwe Hughes Jr., 2-1/2, Hookstown, Pa.; Snow King was Liam Collins, 5, East Liverpool; and Snow Queen was Madison Gough, 6, East Liverpool.
Sponsors of this year's parade, themed, "Spreading the Joy," were New Castle School of Trades, Heritage Thermal Services, The Dawson Funeral Home, Milligan Hardware & Supply Company, First Class Towing, American Spirit Academy PTF, Miller Stacey & Associates, H.R. Feldman Agency, VFW Auxiliary Post 66, Brad's Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, Campbell's Signs & Apparel, The Homer Laughlin China Co., Hancock County Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram and Hancock County Savings Bank.
