CALCUTTA -- A suspect identified by St. Clair Township police in connection to a recent break-in at the Kmart Pharmacy is the same person charged with breaking into a downtown East Liverpool pharmacy the same night.
Burglary charges are pending against Ryan L. Butler, 32, Desellem Road, Lisbon, who Detective Sgt. Troy Walker questioned at the county jail in connection to the Oct. 2 break-in at the Kmart Pharmacy several hours prior to a break-in at the Herche-Bloor Pharmacy in East Liverpool.
Walker said Butler gave a full confession of the break-in at Kmart, saying he was in the store to purchase items he needed to break into the downtown pharmacy but broke into the department store pharmacy first.
Walker said Butler was "rooting around" in the pharmacy to see what he could take when an alarm chirped, scaring him off, and he left the store with nothing.
He was charged later that night by East Liverpool police with breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools after they apprehended him reportedly running from the Herche-Bloor pharmacy with multiple bottles of pills.
Walker said Butler will be charged with the Kmart incident through the grand jury once all the lab testing is complete, saying Butler cooperated with police in its investigation.
