BEAVER, Pa. -- Police in Beaver County are asking for help in tracking down the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run last month along state Route 68 in nearby Industry Borough.
According to a release issued Wednesday, the accident occurred in the early-morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 27, in the 2400 block of Midland Beaver Road, also referred to as state Route 68.
According to The Associated Press, the Beaver County coroner said the victim, 25-year-old Brandon Bixler, died from head and torso injuries after he was struck sometime before 2:40 a.m. along the Beaver County roadway.
Bixler's body was spotted by someone driving home from work. Authorities believe Bixler, of Industry, was walking home from a bar.
State police initially reported Bixler's death could be either a hit-and-run or a homicide.
Todd Bixler, the victim's uncle, told the media he wants whoever did it to come forward, saying "It could have been an accident. We don't know."
An investigation into the fatal has revealed the involved vehicle is believed to be a Honda Civic, manufactured sometime between 2001-03. The vehicle has either a white or light-colored bumper, based on recovered car parts from the scene.
Any information the public is able to offer on the vehicle or its operator is being requested.
Daniel L. Madgar, chief of police of the Beaver Borough Police Department, also is asking "any person with surveillance video footage along state Route 68, in-and-around the Industry Borough area, contact either the Beaver Police Department or the Pennsylvania State Police."
Beaver County Crime Solvers is offering a reward for information leading to the vehicle and/or the identity of the operator as related to the investigation. Those with information may contact its 24-hour anonymous tip line at 724-774-2000.
