Salem Regional announces new physicians, development leader

SALEM — Two new Internal Medicine physicians have been added to the Salem Regional Medical Center’s Active Medical Staff: L. Austin Fredrickson, M.D., and Erin N. Newton, M.D.

Both physicians will be practicing at the SRMC Internal Medicine Center, located at 2020 East State St., Suite C, Salem.

Fredrickson started seeing patients Aug. 1. He is a Salem High School graduate and Summa Cum Laude graduate of Youngstown State University and Northeast Ohio Medical University. He completed his internal medicine residency at Akron City Hospital, Summa Health System.

Newton will begin seeing patients Sept. 1. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Akron, she received her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University. She completed her residency training at Akron City Hospital, Summa Health System.

Fredrickson and Newton will provide a full range of services to address medical conditions that affect patients ages 16-older, such as the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses; disease management and prevention; and immunizations, well visits and health education.

Also announced was the selection of Amy Manolio to lead the Development Department at Salem Regional Medical Center.

“As our newly-appointed Director of Development, Amy will work in tandem with our SRMC Foundation to oversee its fundraising efforts, along with directing the Hospital’s volunteer services,” said Anita Hackstedde, M.D., SRMC’s president/CEO. “The Foundation plays a key role in helping SRMC continue to provide the best possible healthcare in our communities and for every patient who comes through our doors.”

Manolio has more than 25 years of experience in the financial and wealth management industry, with a proven record of achievement as a private banking officer and business development manager.
