Potters to begin tourney run today
MILLERSBURG — East Liverpool opens the Division II district track and field meet today at West Holmes High School.
There are 13 boys and 14 girls teams participating, including East Liverpool, Edison and Minerva.
The district finals will be held Friday.
The top four in each event advance to the Muskingum University regional next week.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.
Beavers set for Wednesday start
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Beaver Local and Carrollton will compete in the Division II district track and field meet Wednesday and Saturday at St. Clairsville High School.
There are 14 boys and 12 girls teams participating.

Div. III teams will compete on Wednesday
NEW MIDDLETOWN — Nine Columbiana County schools will be at the Division III district track and field meet Wednesday and Friday at Springfield High School.
Twenty boys teams and 22 girls teams are entered, including host Springfield, Columbiana, Crestview, East Palestine, Heartland Christian, Leetonia, Lisbon, Sebring, Southern, United, Valley Christian, Wellsville, Western Reserve and the South Range girls.
Wednesday’s action includes the field events at 4 p.m. and running events at 4:45 p.m.
Friday’s schedule includes the field events at 4 p.m. and the running events at 5 p.m.
The four finishers in each event advance to the North Royalton regional next week.

Devils outlast East Paestine
LISBON — A four-run outburst in the third inning allowed Lisbon to best East Palestine 4-2 on Monday in a regular season Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference game.
With the loss East Palestine (16-10, 9-3 in the EOAC) will share second place in the conference with Columbiana. Lisbon is 12-8 and 6-5 in the EOAC.
Aiden Myers led the Devils with a hit and two RBIs. Logan Sturgeon got the win with six strikeouts and four walks in six innings.
Cale Moraski was the losing pitcher with seven strikeouts and a walk in four innings.
Carson Rutledge had a double for the Bulldogs.
Lisbon hosts East Canton in a tournament game on Friday.
East Palestine hosts Rittman on Friday in a tournament game.

Heartland triumps
SALINEVILLE — Heartland made quick work of Southern in an 18-2 five-inning victory on Monday.
Jack Morgan and Alex Hamilton had three hits each for the Lions.
Evan Farrell got the win with three strikeouts and no walks in two innings.
Zac Mayfield and Javlen Pitts had a hit and RBI each for Southern.
Mason Sosack took the loss with no strikeouts and five walks in a 1/3 of an inning.
Southern (2-16) hosts St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday in a tournament game.
Heartland is 5-14 and hosts Bristol on Wednesday.

Potters do not advance
DOVER — East Liverpool’s two doubles teams did not advance to state after action on Monday at the Dover Div. II boys tennis district.
Brady Dawson and Kodie Fennell defeated No. 2 seed Garcia and Dyne of Cambridge 6-2, 6-4 then lost to Leonard and Bier of Steubenville Central 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 in the semifinal. Garrett Cooper and Nicholas Aldrich lost 6-2, 6-1 to eventual district champion Sami Latouf and Alex Pringle of West Holmes.
Only the winners of the district tournament advanced to state.
Luke Kanzelberger of Steubenville Central won the singles title.
