Kellogg places 11th in state shot
HILLIARD — Salem eighth-grader Chaya Murray placed in two events at the OHSAA 7th and 8th Grade State Track and Field Meet on Saturday.
Murray placed third in the girls 200-meter dash (26.00 seconds) and eighth in the 100 dash (12.58) at Hilliard Darby High School.
The winners of those races were Wyoming seventh-grader Nora Morrow (12.31) and Pickerington Lakeview eighth-grader Fatoumata Barry (25.36).
Murray also was 21st in the long jump (14-feet-8).
Murray was the Columbiana County middle school champion in all three events last month.
Minerva eighth-grader Anderson Scott was a two-time state champion, finishing first in the boys 1600 run (4:37.12) and 800 run (2:03.36).
Salem eighth-grader Colt Stockman was 16th in the boys discus (136-4). All three of his throws were over 132 feet.
Springfield eighth-grader Grady Page was 17th in the boys 110 hurdles (16.84) and 20th in the 200 hurdles (27.67).
In the girls field events, Minerva seventh-grader Vivian Watts was fourth in the discus (103-0) and Southern eighth-grader Katie Kellogg was 11th in the shot put (37-10 1/4). All three of Kellogg’s throw went three over 36 feet.
Springfield eighth-grader Julia Vecchione was 22nd in the girls 100 hurdles (16.71).
Worthington won the boys team title with 28 points. Scott gave Minerva fifth place with 20 points.
Celina took the girls team title with 42 points. Salem tied for 33rd with seven points from Murray and Minerva tied for 42nd with five points from Watts.
