EAST LIVERPOOL — It took until the last Friday of the regular season to get the game in, but the Beaver Local and East Liverpool baseball teams finally got to match up at East Liverpool High School.

The game was scheduled on several different previous dates but was rained out each time.

This time the rain stayed away and Beaver Local’s bats exploded in the last two innings for a 9-4 win.

Beaver Local scored four in the sixth and five in the seventh to build a lead that East Liverpool could not come back from. The Potters scored all of their runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Mikey Druschel was key for the Beavers as he had two singles, a double and an RBI. Andre Wiegand and Britton Hickman had a hit and two RBIs each.

Paxton Grimes earned the win with 13 strikeouts and three walks in 6 1/3 innings.

Donovan Shallcross was the losing pitcher as he struck out six and walked five in 5 1/3 innings.

Nate Birch had two hits and an RBI for East Liverpool. Kasen Ramsey added a double.

East Liverpool (1-20) will be at Cambridge on Tuesday for a tournament game.

Beaver Local (6-15) is at Struthers on Saturday.
