SALINEVILLE — Zac Mayfield’s walk-off double in the eighth inning led Southern to a 6-5 win over Wellsville on Thursday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Mayfield added two more hits. Ethan Richards had a double for the Indians.

Braden Rhodes was the winning pitcher with a strikeout and walk in 2/3s of an inning.

Leland Monte had two hits for Wellsville.

Ethan Morris took the loss with three strikeouts and three walks in 2 1/3 innings.

Southern is 2-8 and 1-5 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

Wellsville is 2-11 and 1-7 in the EOAC.

Wellsville hosts United today.

Southern is at Columbiana today.

Weir High 12, Beaver Local 8

WEIRTON, W.Va. — Weir High scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull away from Beaver Local in a 12-8 win on Wednesday.

Paxton Grimes led the Beavers wtih a double, triple, single and four RBIs. Nathan Stull added two hits.

Isaac Dailey took the loss with three strikeouts and five walks in 3 2/3 innings of relief.

Beaver Local (2-11) is at Columbiana today.

EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool ended up on the side of another lopsided loss on Wednesday as Weirton Madonna scored a 10-0 win in five innings.

Madonna limited the Potters to just one hit — a Dre Brown single. Owen Davis took the loss with no walks and no strikeouts in two innings.

East Liverpool (1-13) is slated to play at Oak Glen today.

RICHMOND — Heartland managed just two hits in a 10-0 loss in five innings to Edison on Wednesday.

Paul Bender and Owen Bender had hits for the Lions. Alex Hamilton took the loss with a strikeout and walk in 4 1/3 innings.

CADIZ — Harrison Central exploded for 10 runs in the fourth as the Huskies downed Oak Glen 12-1 in five innings on Wednesday.

Colt Hissam had two hits for the Bears. Ethan Wedge took the loss for the Bears with two strikeouts and no walks in 3 1/3 innings.

Oak Glen (8-13) hosts East Liverpool today.
