Beaver Local winning streak hits nine games
SALINEVILLE — Beaver Local extended its softball winning streak to nine as the Beavers swept Southern Local in a doubleheader on Tuesday.
Beaver Local is 13-2 and is second in the OVAC Class 4A standings behind Weir High. The cutoff for the tournament is the end of the week.
Beaver Local was an 18-4 winner over Southern in the first game. Ally Wright had two doubles, a single and four RBIs for the Beavers. Brylee Curtis, Tori Druschel, Tatum Duncan and Brenna Jones had two hits and two RBIs each.
Megan Henrich was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts and two walks in five innings.
Raelea Carosiello had two hits for Southern including a home run and double. Addy Martin took the loss with a strikeout and five walks in five innings.
Brenna Jones had two hits and three RBIs in the Beavers’ 16-0 win in five innings in the second game. Curtis, Druschel, Jones and Wright all had two hits. Addie Hoppel had 10 strikeouts in the winning effort in the circle.
Carosiello had two hits for Southern. Martin was the losing pitcher with a strikeout and a walk in three innings.
Southern hosts Wellsville today. Beaver Local is at Minerva today.

Chaney 16, East Liverpool 15
YOUNGSTOWN — Trinity Pearson had five hits including two doubles with three RBIs, but East Liverpool came up short in a 16-15 loss to Youngstown Chaney in nine innings on Tuesday.
Addie Jones, Lana Le, Chloe Galeoti and Alanna McGonigal had three hits each for the Potters.
Cate Davis took the loss with 11 strikeouts and eight walks.
East Liverpool (0-17) is slated to be at Carrollton today.
Wellsville 13, Jefferson Co. Christian 0
WELLSVILLE — Wellsville’s softball team solved Jefferson County Christian 13-0 in five innings on Tuesday.
Isabella Vallera had two hits and two RBIs for the Tigers, 5-6.
Madelyn Landess got the win with 10 strikeouts and no walks.
Wellsville is at Southern today.
