MINERAL RIDGE — The East Liverpool boys track team opened its season by winning the Joe Lane Invitational Saturday at Mineral Ridge High School.

East Liverpool freshman Tamar Tisdale won two events to lead the way — the long jump (20-feet-0) and the 800-meter relay with Ricky McHenry, Loyd Hendershot and Gavin Wright (1:37.00).

Junior Maddox Roach also won the 800-meter run (2:00.91).

The Potters scored 85 points, followed by runner-up McDonald with 74.

East Liverpool added four second-place finishers, including Quintin Conrad in the 400 dash, Roach in the 1600 run, Wright in the high jump and the 1600 relay team of Wright, Meshach Harris, Roach, and Conrad was second behind defending Division III state champion Lowellville.

Mineral Ridge won the girls team title with 114 points, 10 more than McDonald. Crestview finished sixth and East Liverpool seventh.

Girls results were not reported.
