STEUBENVILLE — Beaver Local and East Liverpool’s wrestling teams are hot on the trail of Div. II state wrestling tournament berths after action on Friday at the district meet at Steubenville High School.

East Liverpool’s Kyle Ingram and Beaver Local’s Justuce Fisher will face each other in the 106-pound semifinal for a berth in the state meet.

At 120, East Liverpool’s Tristian Eckles is through to the semis.

Beaver Local’s Bobby Buchheit (138), Jake Hughes (150), Evan Ours (165), Kane Curran (190) and Isaac Prescott (285) all landed in the semis after wins in the first two rounds.

District action continues on Saturday.

The top four in each weight class will qualify for the state tournament set for March 7-9 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus.

Independence Div. III

INDEPENDENCE — Southern Local produced two semifinalists on Friday at the Div. III district tournament at Independence High School.

Johnny Bailey (190 pounds) and Rowan Wiley (165) are the only local semifinalists.

The tournament continues on Saturday.

The top four in each weight class will qualify for the state tournament set for March 7-9 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus.
